WASHINGTON - The American University women's lacrosse team fell to Colgate, 13-8, in the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday at Jacobs Field. The Eagles finished the 2008 campaign with an 8-10 overall record. Colgate will advance to the NCAA Tournament Play-In Game on Friday against Marist.
The Eagles went down 4-0 early in the first half, but responded with a four goal run to even the score at the 18:38 mark on goals from Lauren Lane, Brittany Finnegan, Jackie Lane and Gina Ibello.
American and Colgate (10-9) exchanged a pair of goals before the Raiders went up 7-5 with 6:43 remaining in the half on goals from Molly Carroll and Ashley Didio. But the Eagles would respond to the call again, getting goals from Lauren Aksionoff and Ibello to knot the score at 7-7 heading into the intermission.
The Raiders outscored the Eagles 6-1 in the second half and scored six straight coming out of the break and secured their first PL Title since the 2005 season. Molly Carroll, named tournament MVP, got things started at 25:58 as the Raiders pulled away. The only AU goal of the second half came from Jackie Lane with 1:10 left in the game.
Ibello and Jackie Lane each scored two goals in the defeat. Brit Ferguson, Lauren Lane, Finnegan and Aksionoff each scored goals for the Eagles. Anne Marie Person recorded two assists, while Amanda Makoid and Kira Sonberg each added one.

Kristine Vida made eight saves in goal for American and had a team-high six ground balls. Tahra Johnson had four ground balls and two caused turnovers in her final game for AU.
Johnson, Finnegan and Jackie Lane were all named to the all-tournament team.
