Amanda VanZeben begins her first season as the graduate Assistant/Director of Basketball Operations with American University women's basketball.
VanZeben comes to Washington, D.C. from Las Vegas, where she attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas, working as the women's basketball student assistant. While on board with the Rebels, VanZeben gained hands-on experience in all off-court aspects of a Division I collegiate basketball program. Her responsibilities ranged from administrative duties to working one-on-one with the student-athletes. Similar to what she will be doing at American University, VanZeben coordinated team travel and team meals, while also managing the program's budget. She was also responsible for the academic eligibility of the student-athletes, monitoring study halls and working as a life skills coach.
Prior to UNLV, VanZeben was the assistant coach of the Grayson County College women's basketball team in Denison, Texas, gaining valuable coaching experience at the junior college level. With the squad, VanZeben played a major role in recruiting and was fully in charge of the mailing process. She was responsible for opponent scouting, including breaking down film to be used as teaching tools, as well as tape exchange. VanZeben was also in charge of post player development, preseason conditioning and running camps and clinics.
Before taking her coaching experience to the next level, VanZeben was the head coach at Lone Peak High School in Utah, after serving as the assistant at both Lone Peak and Brighton High School.
